Malakio: a natural partnership
Courbelin is partnering with Malàkio, a French brand committed to the valorization of marine materials, to celebrate an intimate connection with the sea. Malàkio has set itself the mission of transforming the European design sector into a sustainable and regenerative model. Its ambition is to create a range of materials derived from reuse and a network of workshops across Europe, located as close as possible to waste sources, in order to meet all existing construction and furnishing needs, and thus replace all harmful and imported materials.
ICTYOS: A bracelet, the result of a sustainable alternative
To ensure the highest quality of marine leathers, ICTYOS tanning processes require a meticulous selection of the finest fish skins from French agri-food partners. To maintain control over supply traceability, ICTYOS relies on a network of local partners, reducing its carbon footprint thanks to this short supply chain. By recovering skins initially destined for destruction, ICTYOS does not in any way lead to an increase in fishing and allows for the intelligent use of existing resources through an upcycling approach. ICTYOS favors vegetable tannins composed of leaves, roots, or fruits to minimize the impact on deforestation.
